I went on anime news network, because I saw an article on a yahoo search for Yatterman and Sho... and just on the news' feed home page of ANN, I found two things related to my fandoms:
Inoue Mao and Hey!Say!Jump
I was so proud.
Check it: (from anime news network at: http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2008-12-02/boku-no-hatsukoi-o-kimi-ni-sasagu-manga-gets-2009-film) Shogakukan serialized the original manga from 2005 to 2008 in Shojo Comic magazine, and it later published over 6 million copies of the manga's 12 compiled volumes. The manga won best shōjo category in the 53rd annual Shogakukan Manga Awards. The manga is actually a spinoff of Aoki's earlier manga, Boku wa Imōto ni Koi o Suru. The earlier manga was already adapted into a live-action movie and an animated video. Inoue starred in Hana Yori Dango Final, the theatrical conclusion to the two manga-based Hana Yori Dango (Boys Over Flowers) television series. The film opened in June and became this year's top live-action Japanese film by earning 7.7 billion yen (about US$82 million). She alsostarred in the live-action television special based on Shōsuke Kurakane's Anmitsu-hime shōjocomedy manga last January. She is set to reprise her princess role in a sequel next month Yutaka Kanzaki drew two manga, Musume Monogatari and Musume Monogatari ALIVE!, about Hello! Project's Morning Musume girl group in Kodansha's Nakayoshi magazine from 2001 to 2004. More recently, the 48-girl AKB48 idol group's "Team B" members inspired their own manga by Yasushi Akimoto and Natsuo Kume in April this year. Update: Under an earlier incarnation of Hey! Say! 7, the members perfomed the "Hey! Say!" opening and "BON BON" ending theme songs for the Lovely Complex television anime series. The Sports Hochi newspaper reports that Mao Inoue, the star of Hana Yori Dango and Anmitsu-hime, will headline a live-action film adaptation of Kotomi Aoki's Boku no Hatsukoi o Kimi ni Sasaguromance manga in Fall of 2009. Inoue will play a girl named Mayu Taneda who experiences first love with a boy named Takuma Kakinouchi. However, Takuma tries to hide from Mayu the possibility that his heart will stop functioning at any moment after he turns 20. Masaki Okada (Hanazakari no Kimitachi e, Robo Rock) will play Takuma. The film will begin shooting in the middle of next March.
and also from ANN: http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2008-12-01/hey-say-jump-boy-band-gets-its-own-manga-in-ciao-magHey! Say! JUMP Boy Band Gets Its Own Manga in Ciao Mag (Update 2)
posted on 2008-12-01 16:43 EST
The January issue (released on December 1) of Shogakukan's Ciaomagazine has announced that Hey! Say! JUMP, a J-pop boy band formed by Johnny & Associates, will launch its own manga in the next issue on December 29. Keiko Notoyama will be drawing all ten of the band members into the Waiwai— Hey! Say! JUMP manga. Hey! Say! JUMP is actually made of two five-boy groups: the (relatively) older Hey! Say! BEST who range in ages from 17 to 18, and the slightly younger Hey! Say! 7 who are between 13 and 15. The next Ciao issue will also feature a special photo feature on the band and a "special message" to the Ciaoreaders from the bandmates.
So proud. Although I did sort of laugh at the HSJ, thing! XD in a nice way (I think).
Can't wait for more of it to come out in Shojo Beat, demo the scanlations are cut off so... T_T
Demo... the parts that made me squeal *spoilers alert -- chapter 4*:
and EEEHH????
Also, I just "finished" (minus skipping the boring parts :P ) Jane Eyre on audio cassette. Yes, it's as romantic as the reputation gives it. then I hurried on out and got the DVD from the library of the latest verion of JE.
The girl was really ugly - and so was Rochester, but he grew on me.
DUUUDE, the similarities between Jane Eyre and Twilight. Must analyze some time. and it doesn't end with the heroes both being named "Edward" (aHA!! didn't see that one coming, did ja?).
EDIT: more!!
Guess what I see next?
Okay, so I didn't like the guy at first, but now I've officially started to warm up to him. Wouldn't it be great if we could see our own Arashi guys represented in a manga? *o* OK, now I'm just dreaming.
but Honey & Clover (the manga) mentions A.Ra.Shi (it's the ring-tone for that one dude... I forget his name), and the Hana-Kimi manga-ka wrote @ the last volume that she was drawing it, listening to Pika*Nchi Double O_O
Arashi-rabu-rabu!! Spread the word!!
PS - sorry for spamming you guys so much today. I don't usually post, though. today I'm on a happy-high, I guess. ^_~
Or so says an article from Business Weekly - and reported in Anime News Network. $12 million US dollars more, that is ($212.6 million USD manga sales). They're the second largest consumers of Japanese manga - after Japan.
That's not to say the U.S. is FAR behind. We (the United States-ians) love them too - with $200 million USD worth.
Even so, I feel a bit miffed to be trounced by the darn Old Worlders (and I say that because I love you all).
I was reading Skip-Beat manga scanlations all through the night just now (and all day, pretty much, meh... go ahead! Say it! I'm not afraid of what you'll say! XP ), and seriously, there is A LACK OF FLUFF which I think needs to be addressed - okay, correction: ADEQUATE AMOUNT OF FLUFF.
Like, why hasn't he thrown her down and started making out with her the next blasted second he sees her??? WHY??? (okay, *cough* that may just be me, and my unhealthy diet of too many romance novels this month) I mean, for a guy who "can seem to barely control his emotions", he's doing JUST FINE by me. In fact he's just a little TOO FINE.
For the love of God, MAN!!! I want to see some bodice-ripping action (well, if there were bodices - and they're not - so metaphorically speaking), even a simple... harmless KISSING SCENE!!!
OH THE HUMANITY!!! OH THE FRUSTRATION!!!
PS - is it sad that I live vicariously through romance novel - and manga characters? I'm pathetic! But it's okay, so long as they freakin MAKE OUT. And SOON.
Or else I'll pop a blood vessel in my temple!! GRAGHA!!!
(Plus manga commentary at the end)
Okay, so I've finally caught up and read some of the more recent chapters of Vampire Knight (manga), and all I can say is:
EEK!!!
GASP!!
OMG!!!
*HYPERVENTILATION*
YOU BASTARD!!
my God how things get so twisted, so complicated so fast!!
Okay, if you haven't read the LATEST chapters of Vampire Knight (and I'm talking about Chapter 33), then please.
STOP. READING. RIGHT. NOW.

1. Kiyru drinking Kaname's blood. *gasp* Eeek! ahhh!!! OMG, shonen-ai, or what? Although I'm not into shonen-ai, my heart was like.... *bbzzzzzzrrrtbbzzrrrt* as if unsure of whether or not to respond by beating erratically, or just be passive and bleh. OMG, though. OMGOMGOMG!!! *bangs forehead on keyboard*
*erases extra letters*
OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
2. Kaname - "be my lover" (asking Yuuki - blackmailing her, basically, if she wants to know what happened to her, and what memories were erased, before she was six years old). IN FRONT OF ZERO!!! EVIL, EVIL!! YOU BASTARD!! Not only that, but he's just EVIL!!! He admitted to it. YOU BASTARD!! *uses Bloody Rose gun on Kaname*
*blows Kaname's brains out*
HE'S TWISTED --- EEEEVVILLL!! I HATETH HIM!!!

So yeah, besides that, I've been catching up on my much neglected doses of Manga-reading goodness.
Skip-Beat is getting good - especially, the last two chapters or so... OMG!! Ren and Kyoto MUST be together!! Eternally! Even though Shou... well, things were getting interesting, but no, Ren! OMG, he looked so HILARIOUS, I was busting up laughing, when he's like... well, I should spoil this one. :)
Anyway, I also read Fall in Love Like a Comic - so romantic in cute, I loved it!!! Main guy (also named Ren. Huh.) was so handsome and Bishonen-y (well, hot is more like it, hehe, but still, same difference, imho) and sweet. Lots of Kissing, which I love to see (in books ore in shojou manga! teehee. Call me a romance junkie but there you go).
And also caught up on NANA (whose uh, main guy is also named... Ren. Huh. Curiouser) - so apparently , Ai Yazawa (the manga-ka) was ill and the manga had to be put on a tempo hiatus, which I didn't know about. Aww. Well, I'm glad Yazawa-san is feeling much better, and can continue on with a beloved story of mine! *insert smiley face here*
That's all the manga news for now, this is Liz-ay, talk to y'all later!
*kisses*
So, I don't know if you're like me, but I grew up reading the Baby-Sitter Club books. None of that "Sweet Valley High" stuff (which I tried later on, but whatev. It couldn't compare! Psh!). So you can imagine my delightful surprise and the nostaliga I felt when, while at another local library (the other one, as oppose to the one I frequent. And I can tell you, I frequent it a lot - I'm on a first name basis with almost all the librarians there. Yeah.), while I looked through their manga selection (I read Avalon High: Volume 1 the Coronation) when lo and behold: I saw it:
Kristy's Great Idea!! Book one!! The one that started them all!! I flipped through it, and waves of warm, lovely nostalgia crept over me: Claudia, Stacy, Kristy, and Marianne (before she cut her hair short and started dating Logan. *sigh*) their first phone call... omg! At first I was put off by the art, because it was so simplistic and kiddy. But after a while, I got lost in the words - right from the book! It was so amazing! I remembered it all!! It was told with humor and warmth.
So I totally recommend if you're at a bookstore or at the library, and if you ever, ever were a BSC fan, look through it!
And this just goes to show: manga (comic books) will take over the world! muhahahaha... (wait, was that an evil laugh? *cough*). I just mean that it's a new and very exciting medium of literature which I've never experienced before, before getting into manga, and I think it's great how times are changing, and a new medium (which isn't so new, really) is becoming increasingly popular.
Yay, graphic novels! (and not that kind of graphic. Ew.).
So we've had characters in fiction/anime/TV shows/movies that we've all fallen in love with (No? Okay, well then I guess I'm freaky like that! ;) ). So here's a compilation of each guy and his stats:
The (kind of fictional) Loves of my Life (part 1)
1. Mr. Darcy:
(Pride and Prejudice)

The first, and the most famous.
Three words: "Dearest, loveliest Elizabeth!"
*swoon*
THE GOODS:
-Rich
-Tall, dark, and handsome
-Mother and father dead (no future in-laws)
-Sibilings: Sister, but quiet and kind
-Witty
THE NOT-SO GOODS:
-Too much pride
-A harpy, shrilly aunt
2. Kyo Sohma:
(Fruits Basket)
How can you not love a guy who's the underdog (er... cat)? Who's so broken that only you can put him back together with your kindness and understanding?
THE GOODS:
-Good with Karate
-No mother (died)
-Sweet, when he doesn't have a temper
-Gentle, only around you
THE NOT-SO GOODS:
-Cannot defeat his long-time rival, Yuuki.
-Temper
-Lots of scars, but you can help heal them
-Turns into a cat when you hug him!
3. Tamaki Suoh
(Ouran High School Host Club)

I believe the term idiot covers Tamaki on many levels, but he's so handsome and kind - and amazingly perceptive - you forget that at times.
Until he say something stupid the next second.
THE GOODS:
-Handsome
-Wealthy (dad runs the school)
-Great dad (just like him!)
-Sweet and compassionate
-Childlike and innocent
-Freakishly perceptive - sadly, once in a while
THE NOT-SO GOODS:
-Freakishly dim-witted - sadly, most of the time
-An idiot
-Egocentric - mostly about his looks
-Evil grandma
-Mother is missing in France!
4. Sousuke Sagura
(Full Metal Panic!)
Strong and handsome Sargent of the imaginary military organization, Mithril - and all at the age of 17! Great at the military stuff - not so good with people.

THE GOODS:
-Buff
-Handsome
-Sweet
-Fair
-Will protect you to the ends of the world
-Military pro
-Funny because he's so stupid
THE NOT-SO GOODS:
-Thick, and I mean REALLY obtuse
-Not good with "real world" dynamics (thus occasionally an idiot)
-Sometimes will follow a superior's orders (even if he doesn't agree) - a "habit" he's learning to break, though
-Usually away on dangerous missions
-Mysterious and dark past
(To be continued...)
